the three most important things about Land of the Heavans

Summer

Congratulations to LOTH for a new layout! Oh, and congratulations to our first winners for the "best of the best". As usual pony is claiming that the layout is "a work in progress", and promises to do a great job for when it is finally done, with the quote "I have big plans for LOTH". She also asks for everyone to comment somewhere in the c-box, and to please give suggestions for the side bar, as she also wishes for it to be as long as the forum "for the purpose of aesthetics". The best of the best is an open awards system. If anyone wishes to nominate for a category, please PM the admin, and the entrant will be judged. Please do not nominate yourself!

the ice of winter has arrived

And on time this time!
Winter in the Land of the Heavans is an unusual affair. The eucalyptus trees are ones that have never chosen to loose their leaves, no matter how cold the season. And, as these amazing plants dominate the landscape, Land of the Heavans has become a stunning sea of snow and leaves. Winds are common in winter, sometimes whipping up blizzards so strong that it is impossible to see one's own feet. Only the valleys of the mountains remain unchanged, and the valley of the night is devoid of harsh winds. a new month has arrived, and with it, it is Summer!
Beaware of fires, long grass and snakes. The herd of the sun is now (generally) a stronger and more dangerous herd, although the strength has not enlightened them in any way!
beware the herd of the sun!

Pony has gone crazy... again.
as a result, she has spent her time improving the site, you will now find a word count, and functioning "money" to play with - however the rewards are not cheap!
and... the new layout! thankyou to inthename-stock@deviantart.com for the background, which has been slightly modified to suit. If anyone has more ideas for the improvement of the site, do not hesitate to PM the admin.

In the tales of old, there once was a land. A land of legend, it was said, that was a table cloth upon a table; so high that it was part of the heavens themselves. Protecting the land were treacherous cliffs, steep inclines and tor upon rocky tor. Select few actually knew of the safe paths into the land, and those that found their way, were considered to be blessed by fate herself.

The land itself was one of beauty mystery and magic, filled with creatures and plants as old as the very land they walked upon. The mere sight of life in this land would have startled most old worlders, for it contained creatures like none other.

Madame Chanceuse
She doesn't know her age. No one does.

Madame Chanceuse is a kooky, crazy old mare. No one knows her exact age, but they all know she has seen many scarring things and is really quite old after all. She is incredibly cheerful, almost always has a smile on her face, and is always laughing and cracking jokes... although, many of these jokes are simply so weird that Madame herself is the only one that understands them or thinks they're funny. However, she is simply so amiable and lovable that many don't mind in any case. She has an enormous amount of energy, an enormous vocabulary, and an enormous mouth, which she talks quite a lot, talks very fast, and talks in a practically incomprehensible way. Although it can be annoying, she is incredibly compassionate and generous, and gives and receives enormous amounts of love.

Madame Chanceuse was born into a rather obscure herd... the Electra. From the start, it was clear she didn't belong there. Her family was known for being rather eccentric and odd, but Madame was undoubtedly even more crazy than her relatives. However, the Electra were also a rather kind herd, and still gave her a good home for her early life. Eventually, she found a stallion that appreciated and loved her crazy energy and eccentricity... and he just happened to be the heir to the throne of Electra. And suddenly, all was perfect... she was to be the Queen of Electra, and she was well in love, and everyone finally approved of her. There was only one problem... she knew, deep down, as did her parents, that she wasn't an Electra. Her heart belonged to another constellation... and didn't the Queen of Electra have to truly be an Electra? But both she and her parents brushed this thought away, and all was going well.

However, once, as she was wandering idly as she liked to do, she was suddenly and unexpectedly forcebred by a stallion of the Melkor. She had no chance of fighting back... he was too strong, too swift. He would have killed her, as well, had her own stallion not come to the rescue just in time. However, even a fierce stallion such as he could not defeat one of the Melkor, but Madame managed to escape just in time... although, not in time to miss her kind stallion being brutally killed.

In any case, after that, Madame was simply too heartbroken to go back to her herd and have to explain what happened, and simply fled the terra. She lost track of time, after awhile, and forgot a few things as well... like what her name was, how old she was, what herd she can from. Her two foals were born, but the fact that her daughter could neither see nor hear, and the fact that she didn't even remember who their father was, drove her even deeper into depression. Those first few vital months, she was a simply awful mother. She couldn't even name them, or speak to them.

That was when she wandered right onto Electra territory again. It was clear the herd had slid downhill after the disappearance of their prince and princess... As if it wasn't bad enough, the herd had been massacred by the Melkor, and only a few remained alive by now. However, those few did, in fact, remember Madame... and just like that, she remembered them, and she remembered everything else, as well. And it was then that, finally, the herd's few survivors finally discovered what had happened to their beloved heir.

After a bit, she settled down with the Electra as their new Queen. An odd Queen she made, but a kind one nonetheless. She properly named and began to properly raise her children, and all was good once again.

However, it seemed as though the Melkor could not let the Electra rest. After only a few weeks of Madame being their Queen, they came again, and it was like a nightmare. Each stallion looked exactly like the stallion that had once cruelly forcebred her and killed her beloved, and this time around they were all trying to forcebreed her and her fellow Electra mares, as well as kill her children. In the end, she and her twin foals managed to escape, although they were the only three that did. The herd of Electra was gone.

However, even though the event was incredibly traumatizing, Madame didn't slip into deep depression like she had last time. In fact, she stayed perfectly strong. She and her children have been wandering since... here and there they've picked up and dropped off the odd horse. Along the way they picked up Juno and Caoimhe, an odd pair, although Madame still treated them like her own daughters.

The Rules of the C-Box

Simple really: Use your name, and no other. Do not abuse others. Do not swear or use profane language. Ignore pony's tyop's. Otherwise, enjoy!
