the three most important things about Land of the Heavans

Summer

Congratulations to LOTH for a new layout! Oh, and congratulations to our first winners for the "best of the best". As usual pony is claiming that the layout is "a work in progress", and promises to do a great job for when it is finally done, with the quote "I have big plans for LOTH". She also asks for everyone to comment somewhere in the c-box, and to please give suggestions for the side bar, as she also wishes for it to be as long as the forum "for the purpose of aesthetics". The best of the best is an open awards system. If anyone wishes to nominate for a category, please PM the admin, and the entrant will be judged. Please do not nominate yourself!

the ice of winter has arrived

And on time this time!
Winter in the Land of the Heavans is an unusual affair. The eucalyptus trees are ones that have never chosen to loose their leaves, no matter how cold the season. And, as these amazing plants dominate the landscape, Land of the Heavans has become a stunning sea of snow and leaves. Winds are common in winter, sometimes whipping up blizzards so strong that it is impossible to see one's own feet. Only the valleys of the mountains remain unchanged, and the valley of the night is devoid of harsh winds. a new month has arrived, and with it, it is Summer!
Beaware of fires, long grass and snakes. The herd of the sun is now (generally) a stronger and more dangerous herd, although the strength has not enlightened them in any way!
beware the herd of the sun!

Pony has gone crazy... again.
as a result, she has spent her time improving the site, you will now find a word count, and functioning "money" to play with - however the rewards are not cheap!
and... the new layout! thankyou to inthename-stock@deviantart.com for the background, which has been slightly modified to suit. If anyone has more ideas for the improvement of the site, do not hesitate to PM the admin.

In the tales of old, there once was a land. A land of legend, it was said, that was a table cloth upon a table; so high that it was part of the heavens themselves. Protecting the land were treacherous cliffs, steep inclines and tor upon rocky tor. Select few actually knew of the safe paths into the land, and those that found their way, were considered to be blessed by fate herself.

The land itself was one of beauty mystery and magic, filled with creatures and plants as old as the very land they walked upon. The mere sight of life in this land would have startled most old worlders, for it contained creatures like none other.

Beavers with the mouths of ducks, little tanks that contained far more spines than a hedgehog could ever claim, and ones that bounded along as their main source of transport. As for the trees; they were tall and slender, many shades of blue, green grey and brown, with scents that would never be smelt in any other land. The land varied widely, from deserts to rainforests, but the sweet scent of those eucalypt trees remained dancing across the wind forever.

No old-worlder ever knew the path into the land, but a fortunate few wild horses stumbled upon one of the more perilous paths into the land. A thick fog gathered as the herd reached the base of the path, and they had no choice but to follow it onwards and up. Minutes passed, hours, even days, it was impossible for the herd to tell but, after some time of climbing upwards, the fog parted, revealing a most mysterious and beautiful land reaching out before their eyes. They looked back, and soon realised that they must have been blessed by none other than fate to have safely made it up the cliff face that they had.

Slightly spooked, they moved on into the land, and as the decades passed, foals were had, new herds were formed, and the descendants of the lucky few became bonded to the heavens above them. Horses were born, the shades of the sun, stars and the planets. Not only that but the bond was evident in personality too. Quiet and shy moon horses emerged, as did firey and strong horses of the sun.

This is the tale of those descendants, the tale of horses with a bond to the heavens that they dance underneath, heavens almost touchable to those horses.

In particular it is the tale of a stallion, blessed by fate, although one would not guess it. And the tale of his love, one and only love, of the godess of the moon. The tale of them and their foals, destined to bring unto this land the golden era of horse.
